The beach at Oura is a beautiful cove with soft yellow sand. The water shelves gently and is good to swim. The beach has a range of water sports available including para-ascending, banana rides, jet skis. There are bars and toilet facilities adjacent to the beach. However, it can get busy at peak times but there are many other beautiful beaches close by. The ‘strip’ has almost every facility you could want *bars, good food, cheap exchange rates etc and all the associated noise; but with care it is possible to stay half a mile away in relative peace and quiet and still have access to all of this. Oura Estrela apartments are ideally situated being just 10 minutes walk away from the Strip giving you the best of both worlds.

The Strip is about 1.5 miles long from the north Montechoro end to the south Praia da Oura end. Most facilities are about halfway down/up, at the crossroads. The Strip finishes to the south at a new roundabout. Going straight on takes you down the hill to the Praia da Oura beach, turning right takes you to Albufeira town, and turning left will take you towards Praia dos Aveiros (another delightful cove which boasts a good scuba diving school, and the famous Kiss disco).

There are a large number of bars and restaurants serving a variety of dishes from traditional Portuguese to more widely recognized continental dishes. The Portuguese love to BBQ so you will find a variety of meat and fish dishes all served with salads, chips or fresh vegetables. The old former fishing village of Albufeira is only 10 minutes away and boasts a plentiful collection of shops, bars, clubs and restaurants and is surrounded by some of the more well known beaches in the Algarve .
